Subject: Animations

OK I made my first animation with bryce 5. It was only a test so put not that much work in it. It ended up in a 8 seconds animation and took two days to render. Now I have a problem, I saved it as a .avi format, but its really big(allmost 200 Meg Byte). OK a little my fault, I rendered it on 800X600 resolution. Now my question is, does annybody know if there is a program to compress the animation to an other format(mpeg, or divx or...) that does not need that much of hard disk space???? please help me because now I cant play my animation fluently...... Hope someone knows an answer

You could always try Bink and Smacker from radgametools. And it's free!

Look for Videomach or Virtualdub they are also free. I don't remember the URL's so you'll have to do an internet search.

thanks aldaron, i downloaded Videomach and it works perfect, now I have an animation wich is off a normal capacity, If I can do something for you, you can always ask and will help as much as I can, but I guess you are much better and more informed than me Thanks very much

I use video wave 5. Micrographics used to make it and Roxio has it now. Its on sale at roxio for about $65 and I just got a sealed box purchase on ebay for $50. Comes with a relatively decent set of tools for the money.

just a little note. You can compress the video when you render it. I am at work, so don't have bryce in front of me to look at, but I believe when you click on the type of video to create, you can choose a compression method. hth, big_hoovie

Yes you can but Bryce doesn't do a very good job of it. I like to render uncompressed then use one of the above programs to do the compression, etc after adding sound and post production.

I agree with Aldaron, I get a lot of artifacting and unsmooth color transitions with the Cinepak codec, but I'm sure it would be great for camera footage. On the other end of things, try Adobe After Effects if you want some real editing/mixing power, I find it simple and effective...

can Premier do compression, or is it strictly editing?
