Gawd I love Amapi. Totally the best extrusion engine I have ever found. It took about a minute to do this 'un Anyway how would you like this? OBJ aint in the cards with Amapi yet (I usually have to do a little multi-app cha-cha to get things into the format I want em) but DXF is available, as is 3dmf and a lot of PC propritary formats that I have never tested. jje

Hi JJE 3DS seems a likely format. Can you do that? What other apps do you have? Perhaps you could export and then rexport the glass as an OBJ from RDS or other program? Eric Walters

JJE, I was steered to this shareware app to convert various formats. Diana suggested buying the Webtricity package at buy.com for LOTS (1000 or more) of objects, but you use simply 3D to open them (that and Picture Publisher are 2 of the apps you get plus lots of other stuff--for $40). YOu save them in VRML 1.0, but then 3D Exploration can convert to .obj (and many with their textures). I just checked to see about DXF (which I felt it could use) and so you should be able to convert. Maybe even straight from Amapi to .obj. URL is http://www.xdsoft.com/explorer/ Diane B

Amapi exports into 24 different 2d&3d file types. Of course not obj...then we could really use it :-) Supposedly it is on the list for a future update. I've used the 3ds extensively and it seems ok. Although it now appears that I will not send this file out till later this evening ('round 8 EST) so I might just bite the bullet, import the 3ds into poser then re-xport as obj. It brings up an interesting problem since I wanted to share the tenament stairs from the latest installment with everyone but was wondering how I was going to keep all the named shapes together (STAIRS, BANNESTER, RAILINGS, FLOORS ETC). Good practice, this. jje

Ok so I got home and couldnt resist smoothing it a bit more and playing about so..... It has just gone up to Free Stuff as a Poser generated OBJ. Diane: Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I am on a Mac and that is a PC app. Strangely it does not import Amapi even tho Amapi started its odd life on the PC. It's a Mac .obj so I cannot recall if there are problems bringing them into PC. If there are I'm sure we one of you will figure out what is the prob. Whatta group eh? jje

It looks great. I'm on a PC and I have had no problems with it. Marge

Sorry guys, that is not a coupe....that is a martini glass. A coupe has a rounded bell, romantically described as "approximating a young woman's breast" and a slightly shorter stem.... Scarab

EGAD!!!! Cham.jpg hey nice reflection. First time I actually tried to use the Amapi rendering engine for something more than a sketch. jje
