I took notice of u're comments and improved this model. Now I've got my 1st model in the marketplace! I'm in u're debt. No matter what I did I couldn't get this clarity for the stone. In my Bryce 5.01 there's no such 'maximum optimiztion' or whatever it is u gang recommended.

Nice job there buddy. You just need to apply one of the Bryce metals textures to the setting and you're good to go.

ok I may be dumb but what metal? this is pure rhino with PS light & gradient. That's it. If I render it in Bryce I loose the stone effect (?)

Duga: You can get loads of stone & Metal effects in B5.01. There's also 'DEEPtexture' where anything is possible. Regs Chris

No,no,no. The stone u see is NOT bryce. If I export it I can change only the metal, but I can't guarantee anything. For now let's just drop it, 'caue I'm busy with my new design

Have u visited my site? any comments?

Don't want to spoil anyone's modeling fun, but I have a lot of gemstone cut models (100+), in a number of 3d file formats, ready to use at:
http://www.3dlapidary.com

These are based on real cut designs, from people who design gemstones in real-life, made with their permission. The models are free for use by 3d artists, with the request that users credit the cut designer and site source.

I also have a collection of Bryce presets (courtesy of the Riggs sisters) for gemstone materials, and a lot of other useful information concerning real gemstones.

Drop on by.
