I know this is a bryce forum but at least I know I should get a sensible answer.Having created an object scale,rotation and move dont seem to work ( yes i have got the object selected).Is ther a button im missing ?.Thanks

It may be possible it is locked. If you have the item selected, click on the small "A" on the sub menu for that item, in the next window check to see if "locked" is selected with a check. If so, un-check it. If not I'm not sure what to tell you. Good Luck

ICM, he's asking about Metasequoia. I sent an answer to you via IM. Tell me what version you have and what kind of object you have, ie primitive, blob, or wireframe construction, etc. The reason I need to know this is because of bugs in the early versions that were partly fixed in the current release, as well as a very different way of rotating and moving the objects.
