WOG, Sorry for being blunt here, but we'll be controlling the release date information and the pricing information very carefully. Last thing CL needs is a stampede before we're ready to turn the switch. If my liberal hints aren't satisfactory for you, oh well, sorry, you'll have to wait until everything is ready for announce. As for that axe you're grinding, the blade looks pretty sharp. Please forgive me for not standing too close to the block.

kupa you don't have time to mess about on here, you're supposed to be cracking the whip getting poser5 ready for release ;) Rob

Wiz old boy, give it a rest... Poser locked up on me all the time on any 9x version of windows (including Me) but once I made the move to XP (based on NT) no lockups, even once I filled up on memory and created my largest (in Mb) scene ever ("this is a test" in my gallery.) It's a windows problem, 9x doesn't release memory once it's finished with it. This is especially true of recently loaded DLL's which it keeps loaded just in case you need them. Windows does this by design. It's not a poser problem. If you check the archives you'll find people with 2Gb of memory and fast chips still locking up, windows 9x simply doesn't work very well with more that 256Mb of memory, again, by design. While poser is memory intensive this is not a poser problem, it's a Windows problem. Untill I moved to XP at work I was having to reboot 98 every couple of days, even though I rarely had a "crowded" task bar, the only memory intensive program I run is Lotus Notes, and I was running a memory recovery program from startup. 98 eventally refused to load anything, (wouldn't even run the screen saver) as it said it was out of memory. This, when my memory utility said I had 50Mb+ (of 128Mb) remaining. This remained true through an upgrade, (swapped out the drive into a new Dell) which brought me an extra 300Mhz and another 128Mb. This was true of the other 5 people in the room too... Kupa, I, at least will take it when it's ready :) Preferably before the machine I bought for it becomes obsolete :P later jb

W of G, At this point it seems that no matter what anyone says, you're going to continue griping. Why the hell should Kupa break a leg racing to publish the upgrade price? He'll tell us when he's ready, and that'll be long before it's up for sale, I'm sure. As if it made any difference anyway! We all have a rough idea of what's it's going to be and he won't hold it close to his chest for more than a couple of weeks at most. mac

Kupa: I'm sorry if you think I have an axe to grind, but I don't. All I ever wanted from CL were straight, honest answers like the one you just gave. I'm an adult, I can handle disappointing answers as long as they are true. What I don't like are excuses, put-offs, and runarounds. I am straight with people I do business with and expect the same from them. Praxis: P4 freezes whenever you tell it to stop looking for textures on items with a lot of textured material zones. It doesn't matter what OS you're using. Maclean: No, actually I think the Windows Excuse issue was my last major retort; I am done ranting (yay!). As for the price issue, I don't care what it is either. Kupa doesn't need to give it. I only mentioned it because others here wanted to know and CL wouldn't say. All they had to do (to keep me happy, anyway) was just come out and tell us they aren't going to tell us.... or they don't know what it's going to be, or whatever. As long as it's the truth. Well, that's it I guess. Thanks to everyone for listening and responding.

"P4 freezes whenever you tell it to stop looking for textures on items with a lot of textured material zones. It doesn't matter what OS you're using." Actually, since I switched to WinXP, whenever I encounter the missing texture problem on loading, Poser pops up a selection box & I can rename any other file in the right format to match the missing file and Poser will happily use it & continue loading ( I keep a set of blank white files named !A in JPG, TGA, BMP, BUM, etc formats in my root texture folder just for this reason, as I've done a LOT of beta testing). When it's done, I can load any textures I want and then re-save the file. If I click on the Cancel button instead, Poser still doesn't lock up, but often looks for the same file again as the CR2 asks for it again and again. Takes a long time, as I have 20+ Gig of texture files it searches each time, but it always finishes eventually and I can fix the problem without exiting poser. Even a missing OBJ doesn't crash Poser, just gives me a few errors and the file loads with pieces missing, or not at all. Still no complete lockups. I guess I misunderstood your position from your first post. The questions you were asking were asked many many many times before, in many many threads. We've always gotten the responses you've ended up with, and we've been accepting it as you say you'll accept it now. I guess we're all finally in the same boat, but now the boat is really finally approaching shore. I'd missed where you mentioned you were a longtime poser user, but new to Renderosity, so (belatedly); Welcome to Renderosity! (Quite a welcome....!)
