Subject: Better SOFT shadows

Is there a better way to create SOFT SHADOWS that have more of a gradation or FADE effect. Ex; take a coke can's shadow--it should be lighter on the top of the shadow and darker on the bottom where the shadow meets the can.

The Soft Shadow option in the lights will only blur edges -- is there a plug-in or a method to achive this?

Thanks

With the global illumination of CS2 you can use a glowing sphere as an area light, it will make a great bulb . If you use CS1 or don't want to go for GI, then use Anything Glows on a vertex sphere . I've explained how to do this in a previous thread, see the link . BTW, shadows are not lighter when they fade away, they're just more diffuse . I hope it helps, litst
