Subject: Vue, Hardware upgrading and 2 computer dilema!

My poor old P3 - 600 is kind of showing its age especially since my RAM went bad and I dropped from 768mb to 128! :( - Mover4 is pretty much unusable!!

So now I face the age old dilemma; do I upgrade my computer or buy a new system? I am happy with my graphics card, soundcard, scanners and monitor, I mostly just need processor I was thinking of trying my first Athlon motherboard, and fancy DDR RAM. Cost or cpu, mobo and ram would be about 300-400; but I could get a spanky new system for less than 800 which would give me 2 computers.

Heres the Vue relevant bit!

Is it a good/legal plan to keep the P600, buy a new system, and have Vue installed on both (theres only me that uses it). That way I can leave the slower machine to chug away rendering the image while I get on with something else, or indeed split an animation with RenderCow? Would I notice much increase in rendering speed with an Athlon XP 1900 and a P3-600 over just the athlon?

While I am here, any tips on where to buy good PCs in the UK would be nice ;) I am off to the hardware board now! Lol

Cheers
Steve :o)

If by chance you can get a new computer, just keep your old one (my second is a P II_300, my main is a AMD ATHLON 1G). No need to install Vue on both, just install RenderCow on both for a network render. And don't complicate in choosing a graphic card... :-)Guitta
