This is a new and improved version with the base modeled in Carrara using knowledge I'm getting from using Rhino. I think it reads a lot better than my image I posted yesterday. Comments always welcome. Blues-

Oh yea, Way way better. You can see the detail with this shader. BTW - Kick ass shader! Is it a procedural or T-Map? The model looks great Blues. You know what would be cool. Grab Steve Cox's UV Maper program and add a custom T-Map to it. Maybe adding some numbers, letters or alien signs to the tops of the buttons. ;) Looks great though! Clint

Thanks Clint! The shader is chrome it's the background reflecting off the chrome:) I tend to do a lot of enviromental mapping. Does Steve Cox UV mapper do OBJ's and oh yeah do you have a link to it? Thanks Blues

Blues, yes it does thats what it is for. You load your OBJ into UV Mapper...Generate a UV Map then (this is important) Save a copy of the Model and the new T-Map out of UV Mapper. Then you can bring that Map that was just generated into a paint program and paint it. Then Import the new OBJ file you saved out of UV Mapper into Carrara and in the Color chanel of the OBJ's shader load the Texture Map you just created. Its a awsome program....He has some tutorials on his site also. http://home.pb.net/~stevecox/ Its also listed on the right side bar under Web Resources. I use this program a lot. It rocks! Clint PS - IF you have ANY problems with it you know I here to help ya along.

I do the above steps, too: Poser or Carrara to UV Mapper back to Carrara. I've also found that Painter 3D is helpful in creating a 'rough draft' of a texture map, which I then refine in Paint Shop Pro. P3D helps me visualize where the major features should go on the T-map. Too bad I can't afford Deep Paint 3D! Jeff
