Spent quite a while on this one. Bryce with minor post and 2d pic composition in photoshop. I tried to get the colors and depth right and also tried to use the fish to show the scale of the image. This is actually my first underwater pic, Enjoy!!!!!

No, this is a submission for this month's contest suggestion by Rochr. The contest title is "the Abyss." Forgive me if this is out of place as this is my first post here relatng to a contest entry,

Crakmine ( ) posted Sat, 10 August 2002 at 1:54 AM

No no, its not out of place I posted somethin about the contest but I only quickly read through the contest (which btw wouldn't make much sense with your picture but I didn't really connect the two) and didn't notice it hadn't been updated because I quickly saw the thing about no postwork and thought that if that were the case and you didn't know about it, you should know -however- it was the wrong contest .) so I deleted it, nice pic tho, I really like the jellyfish

ahhhh.....ok...i get it...lol. Thanks for the comment.

Oh yeah! A great abyss! The light coming from beneath is excellent! Thats exactly the tricky part in creating great depths. You just got to have lighting to make the objects/surroundings visible, but if its to bright, it doesnt look deep. But youve pulled this of just great! BTW, ive just IMd AgentSmith about that banner. Can understand if it creates some confusion :)

I'm glad you like the image. The render was sure long enough....lol...and I actually figured out a cool technique to use for the "abyssal" effct but I will wait until some more pics have been posted before I go write a tutorial about it. Boy, the thing that gave me the most trouble in that image was the darn jellyfish...sheesh.....I had to hand-paint all of those tentacles on because they wouldn't mask right....lol

Really cool jellyfish! I can understand it was difficult to make.
