Hi Im wondering what the interest would be for CDs with footage shot on it that can be tracked and have your Poser or whatever characters added. What would you be keen on seeing available online to help your movies. I live near coast, forest and desert area so I could test some possible scenes. For example, having footage of walking through a forest wher eyou could add your own creatures etc. Im just kinda interested in the market of it. Cheers -LW

Hello LordsWarrior, If I understand your idea correctly, it's a good one but unfortunately has been done. For a relatively low cost, you can buy the background scenes from $19.00 up to thousands on ebay under the description "stock footage". Almost any imaginable movie background available on CDRom, MiniDV, Pal and NTSC video,- you name it. $60.00 gets you 90 minutes of some stuff, and some of the quality is not bad at all. (in my non-professional opinion.) I don't know how you would track it, but the idea is great!

Hey..I just had a look. A lot of the stuff is quite non-versatile. (then again alot of it IS versatile) and I wouldnt think many people would own a DV player or card. Have you actually bought some of this off ebay? Did you like it..and how did you find the payment system compared to here? Cheers for your input -LW

Some of it is pretty good. I don't have alot of money to spend as a rule, but there was one collection that was called "time image" or something like that. It was $65.00 U.S. (I am from Canada) and is about an hour long if I remember correctly. It has some neat time lapse images of skies, cities, water, etc., but you can get pretty much anything. I think I've purchased 3 different ones from different sellers and can't complain; it would take alot of time to film all of this stuff yourself, for sure. I always have bought miniDV and captured it with Adobe Premiere, and worked with it from there. A good word of advise is to check the feedback of the seller and see the comments left by previous purchasers. I always pay by international money order, and only buy from sellers that have a positive feedback history. Have fun!

Right now I'm about to learn the software, so I haven't really been concerned with projects quite yet. (I just ordered P4 and Pro Pack on Saturday.) I bought Lightwave back in March, and bought Poser to tie into it. If I do buy any more stock footage, I will be looking for things with industrial content, as I want to make short clips to promote the small equipment manufacturing company I'm a partner in. I've been collecting short automotive assembly line shots to illustrate various procedures, and want to use LW to demonstrate equipment concepts and use Poser to provide the various workers at workstations. There doesn't seem to be alot of high quality footage available, but then again for my purposes I don't really want to spend alot, either. I just keep my eyes and ears open...
