Subject: Cosmopolitan Hair?

sparrowheart ( ) posted Sat, 17 August 2002 at 11:31 AM · edited Sat, 03 August 2024 at 11:42 AM

Many times when I have admired hair on Poser models, the artist has stated that it is "Cosmopolitan" hair from a CD. Can anyone please point me to the CD in question? There seem to be an awful lot of them...Virtual Makeover, etc. I want to be sure I get one with hairstyles in a format I can use in pictures. Thanks very much for your help! Kimberly

The one that I use I believe is the original (it's a white CD and it just says "Virtual Makeover", not 2 or 3 or anything else). The hairstyles are all in TGA format, which contain masks just like TIFs. Almost all of the styles are available in blonde, red, black, and a dark brown, but they only come in one size (and don't scale up well, so you might have to shrink your render before applying them). Hope that helps! Take care. SnowS

I have a copy of Virtual Makeover but it is useless to me now because it won't run on Win2000 or WinXP. And the company has apparently abandoned all support, there is no upgrade likely coming anytime soon.

Pzrite, you can still import the hair from the CD into Photoshop and use it. I never really had a use for the program to begin with except for the hair. ;) SnowS

Thank you both very much! I am also using WIN 2000, so I appreciate SnowSultan's tip ;-) Have a great weekend! Kimberly

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

You don't have to install the program on your hard drive. You can import the hair styles directly from the CD. I use the original pink one and the purple update that came immediately after the original. The second one doesn't have as many styles on it, but it has some that are different. The only problem is that the Cosmo hair is only facing forward. You have to use some cut and paste to get it to work on side views and different angles, so you can really only use it on faces that are straight forward facing toward the camera. Melanie

Thanks Dizzie and Melanie :-) I'm in Europe too, so I guess the free copy is out for me, but thanks for the information anyway, Dizzie. I bet a lot of other members will be able to take advantage of it! (At least I can buy the CD, which was one huge hurdle cleared. Amazon.co.uk has it for a decent price.) I will take your advice about importing the hair styles, Melanie. I was wondering about just that. Kimberly
