Hi, if you have some spare minutes it would be nice to have a look at the attached link. I am asking for some comments about that item in the marketplace. Of course I would like to hear some _honest_ comments - even and especially when you don't like the item or think it's to small/ expensive. Thanks in advance if you would tell me what you think so I can use this suggestions to develope the next item more for the customer's needs. Take care, Jimi

I like them and think they're excellent and also reasonably priced. I cannot think of what I would use them for in a scene however. They would make an excellent prop in a Pandora's box or lady's room scene. Why have a fancy box you can open unless you are going to use it as a focal point in a scene. This implies that you are competent enough to pose a character to hold the box, but still not competent enough to make one yourself. You can probably sell this item, just not in great quantities. If you combined it with other objects, especially to create a theme set, you could raise the price and still sell more. A fantasy room or Merchant at the bazaar set could use these combined with walls, furniture, and other props. I would be more likely to buy a set and use the boxes in one scene, glass bottles in another, end table in a third, if I had a set of props that matched. If you are more concerned with cash than artistic expression check out the what's hot link in marketplace to see what sells. On the first four pages the top item is Female characters(6) followed by Female Hair, underwear, and sets(4ea) Lighting and female poses(3) and renderosity Magazine(3). I can't vouch for the fact that these items are stacked in order of popularity but the market theme seems to be, "If you build it with boobs, they will buy it." With this in mind, you could use these items in a harem set pack with pillows goblets wall and bed. It would sell quite well as a place to pose all the suggestive female characters being sold in the marketplace.

Oh, thank you for your long and very informative posting. This gives me many clues and I see clearly now. You're definately right - a single box is needed not often. Probably if the box would've boobs, hehe... ;-) Some architectual thing like rooms or buildings is what I plan, the box set was something like a test. I just was a little bit puzzled getting no response, but now I can understand why it is so. Thank you again for your help! Take care, Jimi p.s.: I just made another fault - I think it's not right to post anything concerning products here in the Bryce Forum. I'm sorry and won't do it again for sure. blush

Jimi, The presentation was very good. The problem as I see it is that you have limited your sales to Bryce 5 users. You should make a more versitile version, one that can be used in more than one program. Perhaps a Poser compatable obj or some thing like that. I noted one or two gramatical errors but nothing worth changing. All in all it was nicely done. - TJ

Well, actually I don't know how to create Poser objects. I know that much more people would be interested in a Poser Prop. I have to look for tutorials how to create Poser Objects and specially how to make them 'morphing' like open and close. I didn't wanted to release it as a 3DS file because it would've been untextured and without the morphing top. That would've been very useless I think. Okay, time to learn to create Poser Props, I see. :) And I'm sorry about the gramatical errors. The german grammar is so different that faults happen oftens. sigh Thanks you for your help! Greets, Jimi p.s.: Shonner, you're right... like I said: chests with breasts would be cool, hehe... ;-)

Jimi,
If I could speak german half as well as you speak english I'd be happy.

if you have poser you can import and add it to the props library. from there you can copy the resulting pp2 file.

the texture is another problem. you will probably need uv
mapper. here's the URL.
If you need more help with it 'IM' me. I'll explain what I can.

Thanks for your help again, I will try it. Now I've only to learn how to morph them, but I'll see what I can do. :) Greets, Jimi

Sorry to be so long winded. Did you actually make these with Bryce primatives? If not and you can save these as wavefront obj files they can be imported into poser. Like Bikermouse said UVmapper is freeware that can let you texture a simple box. Image textures can be used in bryce and poser (and other programs) and will enlarge the number of customers who can use your product. The only program I have seen that can create a poser hinge is poser with poser pro pack. I know Maya and Max both have bones setups for characters but I don't know if they can save as poser files. If anyone knows of another way besides poser to make poser joints I would also like to know.

Probably I should do unposeable models... ;-)) UVMapper is a great thin for sure. Greets, Jimi p.s.: electroglyph, no need to be sorry - I was happy about your long post for real!

jimi import the lid and box seperately into poser. get them in the position you want them in and use the hierechy editor to to join them as parent and child. you will then have a character with two objects. export the lid as a morph target and as a wavefront obj. that will get you to the point you can alter the point of origin and the angle of your morph (be carreful with scaling in your modeler) save it as a new obj file when you're done with that, open poser and in object menu you will import the new object as a morph target. name it openchest or something like that. you'll now have a dial you can spin. see if it works right. if so you can save your character to the library locate the created cr2 file in explorer and copy it. good luck. - TJ
