Hi, Pacino and a "virtual idol" I saw it in a banner at slashdot and clicked through, (link attached) anyone seen it? Is it as formulaic as I expect it to be? I mention it in passing only because I think, I think the stock Vicky with a decent hair and makeup job looks better than the woman playing Simone (since I don't think for a moment that she's cgi :) later jb

She's not cgi from the tv programs I've seen like Extra, etc., but I don't remember the name of the actress who plays her. I haven't seen it and really don't plan on it.

I don't plan to see the movie _Simone_, either. The actress' name is Rachel Roberts. The link is to a movie analysis Web site whose owner consistently objects to nudity in movies, even if the nudity is in paintings, sculpture or animation. Apart from that, I agree with his judgments.

I saw it and laughed a lot. I would say the movie is more of a satirical view of Hollywood and the public cult of celebrity than anything else. Of course the plot is outrageous and there is no way anyone would get away with the stuff he pulls. As an example, one of my favorite lines comes when "Simone," who is supposed to be real, says to an assembly of costars by way of explanation about why she won't be working directly with any of them... "I just find I relate better to people when they're not there." I thought that was hilarious. If you know anything about the inner workings of Hollywood (and I spent a number of years on the "inside") there is a lot to laugh at. My parents laughed a lot at it and they live "normal" lives (meaning not CG not Hollywood - lol). Bringing it back to the CGI world. I think it won't be long before we can achieve similar results graphically. I just think there is something about the soul of a human actor that will not be easily replicated. The nuances of human communication are just too minute to replicate very easily.

Yes, I saw it too. Definitely a satire of Hollywood. I started thinking, "ah, so that's what Poser X is supposed to look like." "Hmmm... that smile needs a bit of adjusting with Traveler morphs and that hair needs lengthening or probably needs to be changed to the latest Kozaburo model. So... when is he going to get 'out of memory' error?" Hee hee... you know you're a poserholic when you watch a movie and you start to think....
