THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Path Multi-Replicate Horror M*!#

Can anyone help out with my first - and hopefully last - question on this board? I need to know how to multi-replicate an object along a path (in a single frame). I managed to get the above image entirely by chance, as Bryce seems to replicate randomly and in any direction is chooses, regardless of the parameters I enter. What I'm after is someone to tell me how to create such objects intentionally!!! :) The manual doesn't have any reference to replicate in at all, which is hardly helpful. So my questions are:- 1) First off, when I create a default path, how can I add points to it? I don't want to use a pre-set, but I don't want to be limited to only 4 points. 2) How can I multi-replicate an object from the start of a path to the end? I can link the object to the path OK, but then Bryce normally replicates the objects in the same position. On the occasions when it doesn't, it just sticks them apparently at random along the path. 3) How can I resize replicated objects? e.g. From having a 10x10x10 cube to start with, then, say 20 more cubes along the path getting smaller and smaller until the last one is 1x1x1? I've tried entering the size reductions in the multi-replicate box, but whatever value I enter, it ignores me. Cheers.

They are still probably linked ot, and thus constrained to the PATHS dimensions? need to click that off?

attributes box - linking - tick constrain to path.multi rep does seem to be a problem So just ctrl D and move. New points - alt and click on the path

Thanks all - I'll try these suggestions when I get a moment. I had constrain to path, but I think I had size as well, which was probably bad. Alt-click - that sounds good!

Susan Kitchen's book "Real World Bryce 4" has a pretty good section on replication. Its worth having, even if you own B5.

Sorry alt+click doesn't seem to work; I was only quoting from Susan Kitchens book

Yes, it does work! Alt-clicking on the path produces another point! Thanks for the tip! Give it another go - I think you need to click right on the path to make it work.

Don't you have to make one duplicate and set the first offset then use the control d function in conjunction with setting the link option as per airflamesred? It seems to me that's how it works but I'm a little fuzzy on it. I know I got it to work some time back - it was something like that. -TJ

oops that should have read: set the first offset manually.

I'll give it a go! Cheers.
