argh im tryng to use the new millenium dragon and download from freebies section the mats. however all is in jpegs and it wants jpeg. ok so i change all jpegs to bmp's but that doesnt seem to work. how can i make it bum? i looked thru last few pages of forum n didnt see anything. any help would be wonderful. i have pro pack but the textures wont load up right also. the dragon stays white and im not using the white dragon mat i would select the green one with scales n it still remains white i try to render it and it doesnt seem to render

Anthony Appleyard has just posted a new image edit utility in Free Stuff that allegedly can convert BMP files to .bum format. I haven't tried it yet, myself.

If your using a Mac, you can simply click on it and get file info. Then clicl file extension, change the .jpg to .bum and whalah !! you now have a bum file

Anthony's program works to convert them (for some reason Poser would NOT convert the dragon's body texture for me), but if you're on pro pack, it won't help. Pro pack uses plain jpgs for bumps. That's my understanding, at least. Wladamire, you should be good to go. Every once in a while I'll get a bug were the textures are loaded, but won't show up until I reboot. Maybe it's related to that.

My machine freezes now every time a bum map is called for. It used to readjust but not any more. I have to close everything. Gawd help me if I haven't saved recently. It's driving me nuts. OS XP home, plenty of processing power plenty of memory built in and scratch, I don't get it. Emily

I had that problem as well.

I converted the jpeg to bmp in PSP then renamed it .bum

That worked for some things but others came out with an ugly black streak through it.

I bought a texture for Victoria that asked for the .bum but the textures in the preset for her makeup were .jpg

Poser frooze up when this happaned so what I did was open each and every .pz2 file and change the .bum to .jpg in the file.

That worked for me. It took about half an hour to convert them all but well worth it.

Hope this helps.

Anthony's proggie is a stand-alone. I think he made it to do some things Paintbrush can't, but you don't need Paintbrush to use it.
