Subject: Victoria Map question

just wondering if there are any color-coded victoria texture templates out there or something that would help you figure out how the heck to align textures since the left/right, and back/front are not the same size or shape... in other how on earth do you make a texture without obvious seams at the neck and the tops of the arms/sides of the legs. thanks! Brian

Second question: a previous thread showed this - Use the templates as a texture. Look at the mesh density on either side of those seams that you mentioned. Figure that it also demostrates the concentration of texture pixels on either side. The neck can be affected by the relative sizes of the Head and Body textures. The others are internal to a single texture and they are all the same material, so you are stuck with a single texture. How to do a texture to minimize this, I leave to others.

yeah i have tried that method... and it still leaves me pretty confused lol. i thought i saw a diagram somewhere though where someone actually had arrows pointing to show which polygons matched up to what, and that would be perfect if i could get a hold of that somehow.

I was not suggesting that as a method to match the seams. Trying that could drive your starkers. It was an attempt to show you why the seams where the mapping scale is different are a problem. Matching seams was the one thing that I found Painter 3D was good for. You can paint right on the 3D model - hopeless for an actual texture, but good for indentifying facets - the streaking bug was a bother at the seams, but if you dab the paint... I do not see the seam guides in free stuff- maybe the day shift can help you.
