You can uncheck "smooth" in any body part in the properties pallet and the rendering engine will ignore it and still smooth the rest of the figure if you select smooth polygons. This is really nice because If you smooth something like the wings in my figure here. It gets really warped. Kudo's to CL for adding this nice option. Scott

Yes that is an excellent feature. Ron

Say, Scott? Is that a new 'Zilla? He looks like he has stretching cheeks, reducing the crocadilian appearance. If he is a new version, is he available for download? I must admit to being something of a closet kaiju otaku. I love the irony of your creations, 3D versions of rubber costumes. ;-) Sincerely, Bill

the website downloads and installs a bad version of spyware call "xupiter." rewrites explorer preferences, .DLLs, changes the dates on files, and installs a fake toolbar on the browser. the active x warning may be fake also. clicking on "no" seems to have run an install. sorry. i'm sure this was unintended. (win 2000 w/ad-aware and mcafee with all the filters turned on, plus 2 network firewalls.)

Nedski.......... Since I have thousands of visitors every week and not one of them has had any of the problems you reported. I can only guess you picked these problems up someplace else. I guess anything is possible. But seeing as my web site has been around since before time began. And nobody else has had any issues with it. I can only logically come to the conclusion that you got the stuff elswhere. ScottA

i don't want to impune your reputation at all. and i apologize for the "alarmist" tone of my title above. but the event and the time stamps on the files installed on my PC correspond with the time i clicked through to your site. the specific sequence was: clicking on the provided link; pop-ups from fortunecity; closing the pop-ups; clicking on the "ships" link on the left-hand nav; and about the moment i floated the pointer over the "cylon" mesh, i received the active-x warning pop-up. i clicked on "no" because it was an unsigned and unknown file. but at that point, the activity light on the modem lit up, and the hard disk started to spin. i wasn't able to close the browser at that point. and the back button began to load multiple windows. i used the task mgr to kill the browser. and i disconnected the pc from the modem. when i tried to re-open the browser, it went bonkers - looping like mad. (so much for mcafee and win 2000, huh?) is it possible that one of the fortunecity pop-ups might have conveyed something? or is it possible that you might have uploaded something by mistake? i know you have a great reputation. the only reason i followed the link was because your godzilla was so cool. i'm pretty paranoid about foreign files on this machine. and 'osity and this forum were the first (and only) sites i visited on this machine, this evening. no hard feelings, please?

NP nedski. I of course would want to know immediately if something on my web site is causing harm to other people's machines. I can only guess that it's the FC pop ups doing something strange since it's the only thing I don't have control over. The site is just plain HTML with a side-order of Java script for the buttons to go from one page to the other. That's all. It's a really basic web site. So I can't see how ActiveX would even enter the picture. Legume- I made that Gamera a long time ago for Raydream. It's all separate parts and wasn't modeled like I do Poser stuff. It's not really that good and needs to be remade. Maybe someday I'll get around to it. ScottA

Hey,I just read your problem and it most likely WAS the pop up ad.They have gotten REALLY sick in the past couple of weeks.Another forum I go to has one that always tries to install various programs as they pop up,or reset my home page.Luckily in my browser settings I get warned and can cancel them, but the trick windows with error messages and stuff can get you too. This stuff should really be Illegal.Sorry to hear fortune city's taking ads from these scum now,but they gotta get paid too. They proabably don't even check.BTW cool Gamera!Rock on!

CrystalDragon ( ) posted Fri, 20 September 2002 at 10:07 PM

yeah, gator does that trick too. your best bet is to alt+f4 it, or click on the close button (the little x in the upper right hand corner), this will for close the promt (and cancel the installer).

You think you got it bad? I work in a computer lab. we have to ghost the machines on a daily basis, or the crap like this renders them inoperable.

Hey Scott, The 70's style Godzilla looks great! Is that Ghidorah available for Poser?

ScottA ( ) posted Sun, 22 September 2002 at 7:54 PM

Thanks Theo, The Ghidorah is a Poser figure. But it's not really finished yet. ScottA

Theonering ( ) posted Sun, 22 September 2002 at 10:37 PM

Ok, cool! I was just curious. Let us know when its finished. It looks great so far, though! But one question; where's the chicken feet like the Ghidorah from GMK had? ;) -TheOneRing

I haven't seen GMK. Only a few pictures from the Monster Zero news web site. So I figured I just make the one I pretty much know from memory. I do plan on taking on a bigger project if I can figure out how to do it. This thing will be a real challenge. Not because of the modeling work needed. But because I'm going to have to keep it small (under 3meg.) That is going to be really tough. And maybe impossible. ScottA

Theo, I posted the King Ghidorah figure on my web site tonight if you want to download it and play with it. Sorry...No Dorrats yet. ;-) ScottA

Internet's been out for a while, but I just got the chance to download the Ghidorah! Way cool Scott! You are awesome! :) Good luck with the MechaGodzilla. That's gonna be a tough one, but I expect you can do it! BTW, if you get a chance, see GMK. There's some great CGI in it! -Theonering
