Its 10:54 am central time as I post, and this photo was taken about 30 minutes ago. If you live in the eastern half of the U.S., get ready for some serious rain, all the way up to the upper Northeast by the weekend!

No star gazing tonight in Nashville, Jack. Its size is impressive, but this one here is Hurricane Floyd, exhibiting perfect hurricane form. Its my favorite hurricane shot, about 3 or 4 years old. Forgotten because a cold front pushed it away from the coast right after this picture was taken. You can see the cold front line to the northwest of the storm. Had it hit land, they would still be talking about it because it was one badass storm. Before resizing for post, the original pic is almost 2000 pixels tall, with amazing detail. Must be one hell of a camera, huh? Wish I had one!
