Subject: A really good look at what Judy is and is not

I went to see Spector's new texture for the p5 woman, and while the texture is really nice, I got a really good look at what the p5 woman REALLY looks like.. with hardly any eyelashes, rounded elbows and a really odd mesh shapes where the arm meets the body in the front and especially in the back... awful! Makes me appreciate my Vicki and Mike! So... I hope that CL will fix the models in patches too... I also saw some new P5 hair by the RDNA artist, and it is really nice too, but I understand you can use this fancy hair only IN P5, right? Seeing the new products coming out now really provides some looks into P5.. I will continue to wait and see.. I am not motivated to purchase for a long time yet!! Sara

P5 has options that are only dreams for the P4/pp users. Even with the non patch version its still awesome. Judy is better and worse than Vicky LoRes. Better in that there are more morphs, etc, and what I notice the most is the ability to pose her. Grab a hand in P4 characters and the arm moves (IK). Move the upper arm and not much else moves, you have to go adjust the rest of the structure. In Judy, I notice less of this. Seems like there is greater IK functionality. This has me intrigued because I think animation will be more fluid with the P5 characters. And rumors of a V3 from Daz have me curious too. Guess that's why its called Curious Labs.

From what I've seen of the P5 characters, I'm not very impressed. The faces look sort of flattened. I know that the Millennium figures were modeled from 3D scans of actual people, but I wonder if the P5 figures were just modeled. They don't really look that much more realistic than the old P3 figures. There's something sort of out of proportion about them, or at least the way I see them. I don't have 5 yet, and until I really see something that impresses me, I probably won't buy it. Even if I did get it, I doubt I'd even bother with Judy and Don. They're not as attractive as Mike, Vicki, and Stehanie. I would probably still exclusively use the Millennium people. As far as the dynamic hair is concerned, so far, in the few renders I've seen, it looks greasy and artificial, not soft and flowing. It looks like it needs a good shampoo. :) The hairline around the forehead isn't nearly as realistic as Kozaburo's masterpieces. I never buy software when it's first released. I learned the hard way a long time ago not to do that until the glitches are fixed and I've seen some improvement. Melanie

I disagree about the hair completely, the hair is one of the best parts of P5, and the people like myself and others that are experimenting with it, and trying to grow it HA HA, are finding that its unbeatable. Its a matter really, of willingness, to get inside Poser 5 and monkey with it. When Poser 4 came out we saw the same thing happen, and look at us a couple years later.

Well, since I don't have the program and can't play with it, I'm only going on the renders I've seen so far. I know it has a lot of potential, but I think it's still in it's embryonic stage. So far, the renders I've seen, the hair looks sort of thin and wirey, and sometimes wet or oily, and the hairline has the hairs spaced too far apart and sort of jutting out of the scalp so it looks odd to me. I'm watching the posted images to see how it progresses. I hope to see some better renders soon so I can make a better judgment. At this point, I really haven't seen anyone use it seriously. Just a lot of head shots from people experimenting with it. I would really like to see some actual artistic rendered scenes with some action going on it them. Maybe I would get a better idea of it's worth that way. Melanie

Ive got a few in the galleries here. Its as little or as many hairs as you want to grow. And in that analogy is its as little or as much as anybody wants to do.
