Nice models! Good explosion as well. I've only done a little with the motion blur. Nothing that would work well with the apparent speed your flyers are going at. But, since it was a 30 sec animation, I didn't want to have to go and do 900 frames of post in Photoshop! It definatly added to the render time (54 hours!) but was worth it went it started off a conference and the audience applauded!
Really nice work.... Always fun to see things blow up in 3D.... And as said above, your models and such are really cool. As for the motion blur in RDS (and presumably Carrara, though I haven't had the opportunity to use motion blur in C yet), it kind of sucks. It's a real cheat of motion blur -- it duplicates previous and following frames, superimposes them with a bit of a gaus blur and goes from there. It DOES simulate a motion blur, but it doesn't look photo-real like Photoshop's motion blur. In RDS there was a free plug in called Pseud Blur (you can do a search in this forum to get the link) that did a fabulous motion blur (and took a very long time to render). There are no plans as of yet (that I know of) to port Pseud Blur to Carrara which is a shame. I've faked some motion blur in RDS using AfterEffects and the standard photoshop circular blur (in zoom mode), but it is a pain and it is a fake. Maybe we could convince Mr. Clappier and company to look into improving the built-in blur, or perhaps Mr. Winemiller might look into creating something called Anything Blurs.... - Dex
