Subject: Does anyone have JStallings CR2editor ver 1.52 Program?

Not the one here and on the PoserTECH group. That's version 1.51. I need the other version to try something. Thanks, ScottA

I have it, but I'm not clear on the author's stance about redistribution. The readme only has this to say on the matter:

*"This code is intended as a contribution back to the poser community, and as such is free for personal use. However, like it says in the About Box, it is not for resale nor for commercial distribution. I.e., if you figure out how to make money giving it to others, I want some of the money!!

What I'd really like would be for some kind soul to repay this contribution by either fixing the p4 bikini top or by creating a p4 bra!"*

Granted, if I merely sent you a copy, it wouldn't be a commercial distribution ....

It's OK to give it out LD. We used to have it posted on our PoserTECH user group. But it has a bug in it so we swapped it for the older version. I'd be very grateful if you would e-mail it to me at: scottasba@aol.com ScottA

It's on its way. What clever exploit for the bug have you come up with?

ScottA ( ) posted Sat, 19 October 2002 at 12:35 AM

Got It. Thanks. I'm looking for a fast way to rename .obj body parts and I like the tree view he uses. It's my favorite way to edit files. UVmapper is a pain for something like this and I don't care for Compose because it uses Java and it's pokey. ScottA

What, precisely, is wrong with v1.52, anyway?

ScottA ( ) posted Sat, 19 October 2002 at 1:06 AM

It won't open certain .cr2 files. I think it has trouble with Vickie. And it corrupts the .cr2 files. I can't remember exactly how. Or if anyone even tried to figure out how. Last month I was going crazy because I updated one of my figure's .cr2 files. But no matter what I did. The figure would distort into space when posed. Like it does when you weld two sides of one body part to other parts. Turned out I still had ver 1.52 on my machine. And I was using it by mistake. ScottA

Doh! I was in bed and just about asleep when I suddenly remembered. Ver 1.52 re-arranges the order of the file structure when you save them. That's why the figures go all haywire. There is a specific order things need to be in under the Channels section. And the program moved them around, causing those problems. ScottA P.S.- Yes...I do some of my best thinking when I'm asleep. ;-)

scott: sometimes you are truly scary. :)

Ok, my curiosity is killing me- if you know 1.52 is broken, why do you want it? I confess I never used it very long, since it messed up the CR2, but does it have some particular enhancment you need? BTW, I have the same question for Wile E Coyote, why does he always shop at ACME, he know's it ain't gonna work! :) Regards- Lemurtek

ScottA ( ) posted Sat, 19 October 2002 at 4:37 PM

Lol. Ver 1.51 doesn't have the edit .obj files option. I knew ver 1.52 corrupted .cr2 files. But I couldn't remember if it mangled the .obj files as well. So I wanted to try it. Turns out it mangles them too. I'm just playin'. Oh and Bloodsong. My mother told me I was scary once. Once! ;-) ScottA

I have the same question for Wile E Coyote, why does he always shop at ACME, he know's it ain't gonna work! :)

Because he's a member of their Platinum Club, and gets significant discounts.

He's unemployed and lives alone in the desert. Where else can he afford a catapult?

heyas; you're not scary once, only sometimes. there, now i said you're scary twice. a new world record!!! ;)

ScottA ( ) posted Sun, 20 October 2002 at 8:18 PM

Lol. Did you ever see the movie Johnny Dangerously? It was a comedy starring Michael Keaton playing a gangster. If you didn't. Then what I said probably didn't make any sense. ScottA

bloodsong ( ) posted Mon, 21 October 2002 at 3:46 PM

heyas; no, i haven't. but i could see you trying to make a point. i was just flaunting ya ;) you know i'm much scarier than you are, any day! :)

Dave ( ) posted Mon, 28 October 2002 at 11:09 AM

Yes version 1.52 messes with the order of the channels, even in a pose file. Reverses it for some reason. For that very reason I'm having to go back to 1.51 to fix a half dozen pose files I created with 1.52. ARGH!!!!
