Subject: Question on conforming:

if you open a Standard Poser figure, then open the same figure a second time, they perfectly overlap each other on the screen. Now to make the second figure pose exatly the same as the first figure, you go to ==> figure2 conform to figure1. They don't match any more. Tried with the joint editor, zero each figure before conforming them. No change, they still don't match. looked at the properties and the XYZ numbers seem the same. Anyone has a solution? PS; P4 and P5 do the same, as do P4 and P5 figures. You cannot glue one on top of the other.

The conform tool is used to fit clothing and other props to your figure. It won't work on a second figure. If you want two figures in the same pose I'd set up the first figure the way you want it. Then open your Pose library and add the pose. (Click on the + icon.) Now create your second figure and apply your newly saved pose. Hope this helps.

The don't conform because the figure has been "memorized" in a pose. -Load the figure and campletely zero all parts, hip, and body. -Select "Memorize Figure" and resave. -It will now conform to itself. Enjoy, Anton

A little more background on this, Anton has it right but doesn't give the reason why. First look at the hip of the girl, I believe it is offset by 0.05 on the Z axis. Now take two girls and don't bother to pose any of them just conform one to the other. You will see the conformed one jump off the parent. The reason behind this is becase conforming is additive. In this case the hip of the conformed one is pushed out an additional .005 so it now actually sits at .01. If you want it to conform properly you need to set the hip dial of the conformed one back to 0 so the addition of the .005 puts it back to the proper spot. Many people make this mistake when they try to make thier first conforming item, they try to place it on the default pose without realizing that this pose is already changed. This might seem slight but you wouldn't expect a shirt modelled with the arms down to conform properly would you?
