I'm trying to tackle moving water now.. and I've gotten this far... but the water wash just aint cuttin it. How would you all tackle this? The wash is a terrain with a stock bryce texture. I just cant seem to find the right combo of texture settings to make it sharper. Thanks for any input... Blue

to sharpen your textures you can add a channel with a procedural noise (like a high frequency polychrome bump). You can also turn AA of for that specific object. I understand that your water is already animated?

Howdies rayraz... animated?... nope. I just meant I'm trying to do a scene with "running water" in it... as opposed to still water like a lake. As for adding a channel.. all channels are being used. I've tried doubling up with textures.. for example using two textures for the bump map, transparency, etc, but it always seems to change the over all appearance and I lose ground. I've also tried doubling up on the terrain and experimenting with different textures and settings but still not happy with it. Oh, in the above pict, the antialiasing is turned off for the water wash... so that helped but I'm still looking to get better results. Thanks for the input... Blue

You could play with the filter in the DTE. try to get a sharper graph. (higher amplitude)

You need a new layer ith rapids. Duplicate the water terrain and raise it up just a little bit. Add a bit of noise (slope&height) in the terrain editor and apply a high frequency cloudy material to it. Then see hoe it looks renders and fiddle around with it a bit more.

Rayraz.. I'll give that a shot...thanks Madmax.. The picture already has a duplicated terrain. I guess what i'm trying to do is eliminate the "foginess" the current texture gives, but still retain some of the thickest "white wash" areas.. if that makes any sense. If you have any specifics or examples... do tell. I've already tried a zillion combinations of clouds and settings. Thanks again... Blue

Blue, Have you tried playing around with the scale of the texture? sometimes that helps. - TJ

Try one of the jeststream textures. Also, make sure the dupicated terrain is set to solid.
