Here's a pic of Mike with my WIP staffweapon. Please let me know if the scale looks about right? thanks mike

Not a bad job at all ... but the originals are over eight feet long.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Sun, 10 November 2002 at 6:46 PM

Correction: "over six feet long."

Here's a correction, stretched the length a bit. Is this better or is it too long now? mike

Looks fine to me. In any event, it wouldn't be too difficult to create a morph to vary the shaft length.

nu-be, where is your staff? I'd really like ot see it, and the other, as well. mike

HEre's the latest view of the Staff Weapon. It shows the effect of the morph to open and close it, as well as the basic texture I've added in P5 texture room. Section 33 has a copy that he is working on a texture for, but I figured I'd use this as an oppertunity to try P5's new tools. As always comments are always welcome. mike

Humm, I just noticed that "aura" effect aound the objects. I'm sure it's soemthing to do with the anti-aliasing. I wonder is there a way to reduce or eleminate it? These were render at 72 DPI (standard for "test" renders for me), would increasing the DPI help or make it worse? mike

heyas; is it just me, or do the ends look too big? the smeary pixels around the picture, there? that's from the jpg compression, not rendering.

bloodsong, here is the picture I used as a scaling model. I think the weapon end is a bit bigger (longer at any rate) I do think the butt end is pretty close. Truth is I wasn't going for an exact match just a "near enough". I could get it closer, and may try to later on. mike

heyas; their's looks lighter than yours, for some reason; maybe the texture. but looks to me, your model, it would be too heavy on the ends to maniuplate properly. but if everybody else says they're okay, then i guess they're okay. :)

I'm thinking your right. Time to break out the calipers and see if I can't get the scale better... Maybe making the butt FLATTER front to back? nad NARROWER? hummmm... mike
