Just wondering if any of you have run into this... and got a suggestion. Where to store files for optimum Poser performance? (Without over-filling your Boot drive!) I'm trying to keep my C (boot) drive as fast & uncluttered as possible, but you know how Poser files can really fill the Gigabytes. So I moved certain files (.pz3; .avi; .zip; .jpg, .bmp, .tif etc.) to another partition & drive. It's not working so well. Poser refuses to "learn" where the files now are; I have to manually find the textures it wants each time. I HOPE there is some way to trick Poser into automatically getting its files from another partition or drive because my C drive is fast becoming tooo full. (NOTE: I have 2 hard drives, one 80GB & one 10GB. I partitioned the 80GB into "C"(Boot), "E", "F", "G", and "H", and the 10GB is "D". The "C" drive is allotted 7GB, & there will only be a few hundred MB free if I put all those texture files back into it. I'm using Win2000Pro.) Any idees?

If you have Poser 5, you can easily move your runtime folder or simply add one that's on another drive - consult the manual for details.

Knuten,If your useing Poser4,do a search in Free Stuff for CorrectReference. That prog. will find all your texture files(no matter what drive they are on),and match them up with the cr2 and pz2.As far as "splitting" up your files to seperate partitions, and drives....been there done that...not worth the effort,as it didn't do anything.

I think if I had the setup you describe I'd very likely empty the 10 gig of all content, run it through FDISK and NOT make it an active partition. Then I'd format that clean 10 gig drive and lable it "POSER". Copy the entire contents of the "Runtime" folder from wherever it is and put it in a folder named "?:Poser4Runtime". Uninstall Poser 4 and reinstall it at the new address, which will be on the newly reformatted drive. And that drive may be able to last through (depending on the condition of the drive)a few years of poser and all your files will be where they should be.
