Doorknob has given me an excellent idea! And I'll one better it. I have a T1 connection (768Kb), a measely 52GB of storage for server access, and a local web server/site. My website is not very expansive at the moment (still under construction for the most part) and I donot have an FTP server setup (there is an Apache server running), but it should be possible to set up to allow people to upload files which can then either be accessed here or from my site. I'd be a complete newbie at this type of thing and any advice would be appreciated in setting the FTP side up. Anybody interested in having their 3D stuff hosted on my server, please contact me and we can go from there. BeatYourSoul

Cool! That's one. ;) Currently in the process of setting up the FTP Server (access, folders, etc - now I know that I'm a newbie at this :). My idea is to allow users to upload to their FTP folder and then I'll add the files to the web site for downloading or access from Renderosity's Free Stuff (no MarketPlace stuff unless you ~really~ trust me ;). Hopefully there are others interested as well. I know that there are many out there who do not have access to web servers or a large-enough web account. I have ample space (52GB as I mentioned) and can always add another 80 or 120GB drive if necessary. Will keep you posted and provide more info once the FTP server is configured properly. Update: Well, when Apple released Jaguar, they decided to change the ftp daemon to some offbeat version (lukemftpd) which works, but would allow anyone ftp-ing into the server access to the entire system (not a good thing). So, so much for simple and quick; it was working very well except for that one problem, which from accounts, is unresolvable. Currently working on moving to another ftp daemon like proftpd.
