Hi, I've been asked and so I'm considering adding Carrara support to P3dO. For this I will need some help for the Carrara community like: - Does the .car file format include an embedded picture ? Or is there an attached disk picture like Poser .rsr ? - The list of all files formats supported by Carrara (including files formats common to Poser like .obj) with their description, i.e obj Mesh object. - What are the relationships between Carrara files, for example .obj and .car - A place where I could find some infos on Carrara file format. Any tip or tutorial that would make the difference and be helpfull for you. As far as I can see from freestuff Carrara files, that format is quite mangeable and friendly. Yarp btw I tried to add Bryce support last month but as I got no feedback from Corel - and couldn't find a way in alone - I had to give up. It's really a shame ;(

Eovia has a software developer kit. Would that help? The download address is http://www.eovia.com/carrara/sdk_car.jsp Also I am sure that the people at Eovia would be more than willing to answer your questions. Keith W

Sure, this is more than helpful. I'm gonna study the SDK first then I'll sure will contact them with a lot of questions. It's difficult to thank people, or even to reply to people, that fill the form at SENO - just because it is anonymous - but this time I can say: This is a good suggestion - an also a little more work - thank you for this, not for the work, huh ;) Yarp

I'm glad I could be of assistance. I have been looking for a program to manage my 3D files for quite awhile. When I came across your program I though this would be perfect if it only supported Carrara. Thank you for responding to my request so quickly. Keith W

Same for me ;) btw As nobody replied to my questions above, could you please reply to my questions above - except the fourth one, cause the SDK will do for this ?

sorry yarp, not ignoring the question just don't know. On a related note, I tried the 'C2 SDK' and it works without modifying anything! If the 'QT SDK' files are not in the right 'C2 SDK' directory you will get errors in MSVC6, but that's to be expected. Ok now I've got the resultanr .D?? and .M?? files and have properly placed them in C2's extension file. What Am I supposed to see and do when I open up C2? (I used the constrain/screw example.) - TJ

I just don't know and I don't have C2 either. I opened the SDK but at the moment couldn't find what I needed. Most of the time SDKs are command add-ins for the application, that's probably what the samples do. But that's not what I'm looking for.

yarp, If you go to http://www.eovia.com you can download an evaluation version of C2. That will answer the formats question at least. - TJ

Yup, I missed that. I'm getting it just now, it sure will help. Thank you for your help Bikermouse, if you need any assistance with the SDK stuff don't hesitate to mail me.
