Subject: recommended hardware?

Hello everybody,

in the not too distant future I am going to buy me
a new computer.
For a good performance with Poser (4) and Vue D'esprit,
should I take

  • AMD or Intel
  • which graphic card (seems to be quite difficult to
find one that supports OpanGL f Vue D'esprit properly)
  • W'98, 2000 or XP
  • anything else to take care ???????

What are your experiences?

Thanks,

Ernst Hammann

Go for 2000 or XP rather than Win 98. Both Poser and Vue are hungry for memory, and the insufficient memory handling in Win 98 will cripple you. As a general rule: buy as much RAM as you possibly can afford...

Win 2000 GeForce4 128MB Ti series. Not used the new ATI Radeons, so I can't comment. AMD (more bang for your buck), and dual CPU if you can afford it, as Vue supports multi-threading. At least 1Gig of DDR RAM. Ohh, and a large monitor...21" if it is feasable. Cheers

Yeah, a good monitor makes a huge difference. I got an 18" flat panel a couple of months ago--love it! And they're coming down in price, too. And hey, why not pick up a Wacom tablet while you're in purchase mode.
