THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: multi-replication question

I guess I need a bit of advice. Sorry, I'm not at my home computer so I'll have to explain what I'm trying to do with words rather than a picture. In the image I'm working on, I have a figure that is to be pulling on a chain attached to a much heavier figure. I figured the easiest way to do the chain would be to multi-rep a chain link along a path in Bryce, rather than trying to do it in a modelling app. Unfortunately, I know very little about this technique... mostly due to the fact that I still haven't been able to get hold of Real World Bryce (maybe next pay-check). Creating the path is no problem... straight, taut line from the heavy object to the hands, then dangling down a bit as gravity takes the end of the chain. What I haven't been able to figure out yet is how to 'attach' the links to the path. Not much on multi-rep in the manual and I've only been able to find a few tut's on multi-replication, and nothing so far in my searches about multi-rep along a path. Aldaron, humorix, madmax or anyone else who's done this sort of thing care to help me out on this one?

ok... I think I found the answer after searching for "multi-rep" rather than "multi-replicate", "multi-replicating", "multi-replication", all with and without the hyphen. And, as luck would have it, it was Aldaron's answer to a question back on 5/8. So... thanks for your help, Aldaron. :o)

You're welcome I guess :) Was ging to post an answer again.

Just go to the object attributes, linking tab, and select the path from the "object parent" pulldown.

thanks, guys. I got it work, but creating a chain that way wasn't really working for me. Links at the end of the path are always bunched together while those in the middle of the path are too far apart. I was, however, able to use metaballs and come up with a nice looking rope, instead. So I think I'll just use that. This was my first time to ever play with paths and multi-reps and all... still got a lot of learning to do.

btw... if anyone is still reading this thread, I know how to add points to a path, but is it possible to delete them. Haven't been able to figure that one out, yet.
