Subject: Trying to move from PC to MAC and having problems...

Just got a MAC and I love it.. My hubby installed poser on the Mac and it seems to work, BUT when I download anything and put in in runtime folder only the folder appears in the library. Do I need a different version of Poser 4? Can't afford 5 at this time. Can I copy my runtime folder over to the MAC without running into major problems? I have virtual PC software which will let me do it, but want to clean out the folder on the PC before I do this. Any assistance you can give me will be greatly appreciated. TIA

I moved all of my stuff from pc to Mac a while ago, but the computers are not connected so I used the downloaded zips. What you have to do is to convert the stuff so that "MacPoser" can see it. Go to http://www.soft-rabbit.com/ and get Maconverter. There are a few other utilities there that also may be useful for you. I don't know if you can convert the whole runtime at the same time though. I used the same installation CD as I had used for the pc. There is no Poser 5 for the Mac yet, but I am running Poser 4 in Classic mode under Jaguar and it works fine.

if you have something in an .exe form open it (but done't install it, just unzip the files either with easy extractor or jsut save the files), then transfer it. then stuffit using Alladin's Stuffit program as Mac does not recognize .exe format, nor is there a way to really open an .exe on Mac. I found this out the hard way months ago, MartinC has some wonderful Mac applications to help those of us who are using Macs and most of the stuff is PC form.

Maconverter and Macinstaller will become your best buddies. They make life much easier for us. I don't think you can do everything at once (but ask MartinC). I moved all my art tools over to the Mac about 4 years ago, and wished that I'd done it earler. Have fun with your new beastie. Carolly

You can also move all of your stuff from your goemetries, libraies, and textures, from your PC to the Mac and they will work. Much faster than reinstalling all your downloads.

Mac converter and mac installer are our friends :-)

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.
