THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: what exactly does the open image option do

in the file dropdown in Bryce 5 the option "open image" lets you open an image - Then What? is there a trick or something?? Someone... Roch222

Nope, No tricks, just like any "file" dropdown menu. It'll default to the last directory you were working in. If you have a file open already, it'll prompt you, asking if you'd like to save the current file(if you've made changes since opening). Other than that it's pretty standard.

Also... It's only a 2d image, any renders will basically erase it, plop renders will look like a cut and paste over it, spray renders etc. If you save it it'll become the new file you save. Go ahead rename a file or use one you don't care for and experiment.

It comes in very handy if you use merge. After you merge a Bryce file with your scene, your render disappears. You have to rerender anyway, I know. But if you're still just working and doing plops here and there it's handy to open your previous image and continue working.

Its completely useless in bryce but it's very good in metasequioa

I use it when I want to finish rendering something that I cut short . When I open a half rendered image it automatically continues from where I left off. For me this is great, often I cant be arse'd to wait for a complete render so I do it in stages, it also gives me a space in which to decide if the composition etc is working out. It pays to put an image to one side for a while and then re-appraise it when I am less giddy with my supreme creative genius! Create when drinking! Final render when sober! Now you know why I always say CHEERS!
