Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 28 2:24 pm)
LOL, Darth. Always encouraging following the Dark Side, eh? I'd suggest running through the Tutorial in the manual. When that craps out on you (and it probably will), go to Willow's PFO, and post on the Animation and Mimic forum; that's where I got help, some of it from Ian Grey, the author of the tutorial itself, and some from a professional animator who sometimes frequents this site as well. Also post any specific questions on the 3D Animation Forum here too. The Poser Animation features are complex, but not that bad. It does take up a lot of hard drive space and memory to do animations though!
I ditto what CEBrown (sorry, haven't adapted to your modified username yet) said. Also, try the PoseAmation forum at Onelist.com. I've gotten a lot of help there too. And as for the difficulty of doing Poser animations, a little background info is in order here. I got Poser and Bryce around Christmas time, and spent over the first month or so just surfing the many Poser-Bryce web sites and downloading tons of tutorials, models, etc. I ended up being overwhelmed by it all and too intimidated to allow any creative expresssion to even form in my mind, much less ever hope to convey it through Poser or Bryce work. But clarity came when I got jazzed up about trying to animate something. I set about learning how to work in Bryce enough to create a background or two for my scenes, learned Poser enough to animate some characters and objects, and edited it all together in Adobe Premiere. I now have a cute little 3 minute animation that came out prety good considering it represents the first things I have ever done in Poser and Bryce. So don't let that mean ol' Darth scare you about it being so hard (although he may be right about the "value" part, depending on how you define value", and a pact with Evil just might help out, now that I think about it). If I, a weekend hobbyist with little computer skill or artistic talent can do it, anybody can. Yeah it was work and, at times, frustrating, but I had fun doing it, I learned a lot, and I "met" a bunch of nice folks on these forums in the process. As to the answer to your question: I haven't a clue. This animating in Poser is tough stuff. Has to do with a pact with Evil or something. (Sorry. Couldn't resist.) :)Seriously though, folks, I'm not certain I understand the situation you described well enough to give you a good answer.

I've done a fair bit of animation and never run accross the situation your describing. Just an Idea, what does the animation segment line on the bottom of the animation show? Does it start at frame 130? That brings up a thought. Have you enabled the WINDOW ANIMATION PALLETTE from the Windows main menu item. If not this often explains (in Satanic code ) what is going on.
DSQRD,, Satanic code - LOL! I just started familiarizing myself with the Animation Pallette, and I swear it IS some kind of Satanic code. But, like everything else that appears new to the human brain, I guess this just takes some practice before the code is deciphered and it becomes just another user-friendly tool.

If your char disappears try checking that the main camera (if thats what you are using) is pointing in the same or intended direction for the sequence. If not, delete key frames for the camera that are mis directing it. I usually have only the first keyframe enabled for the camera. If this doesn't fix it check if the character itself is being moved to another location. Again delete the offending key if this is the problem.
