Subject: Free 30Day Demo of a hot motion capture program. Looks like the real deal.

http://arielnet.com/ I spoke to the sales support at this company today and he didn't seem to know much about animation or motion capture. The product seems geared more towards "motion analysis" for sports and biomechanics. While its use in games and movies is highlighted on the site you cannot export bvh files but instead only "askey"(sp?) files for trans and rotation movement. It was a slow day at work today so I spent some time surfing the net and talking to the sales people at a few companies and the consensus among those that I talked to at places like Vicon were that this software package was the lowest priced motion capture software out there. Also learned that Eyematic has a domo version of their "Facestation" program which is available on disc. Don't ask me how I know this but I do and they're not just mailing it out to anybody who contacts them either. You're gonna have to contact them and tell them you're Steven Spielberg Jr. or do some finagling and then after you get the disc you can expect them to call you to buy the full version.

It might not be able to export BVH files, but they're getting the data into Poser somehow. I recognize Posette and BrainStem from their mocap demo video. BVH files are written in "ASCII" (correct spelling) text, also. Perhaps they have a means of reformatting the data to a BVH hierarchy.

Kinecapture is pretty cheap $600 Educational $1200 retail. It uses camcorder video from 2-4 cameras, with 3D Studio Max. = )
