Subject: Zygote Victoria in Carrara: no pupils...

Hello; Zygote's new Victoria model uses a double set of 'shaders' over the eyes. With the front one set 100% transparent in Poser... The inner one contains the info for pupils and all... So... I bring her into Carrara and all I get is either solid white for the eyes or empty sockets... I know at least one person has suceeded in rendering her in Carrara. So; how'd you do it? This is just about to drive me nuts... :) Fortunately I have about 30 other items in the file that need shader fixing, so I can delay going nuts until I come back to her eyes... :) Hopefully somebody'll have an answer by then...

You need to set the "EyeBalls" material color to Black instead of "no color", and turn up the transparancy slider. CarraraEyes.jpg -JH.

Now I've tried that JeffH. And indeed I can get the transparency on the outer eyeballs. But my problem now is that I get black eyewhites. And no matter what I do I can't get the eyewhites white. I've tried tex map, no tex map, just color, and still get this oddity. Any insight? JAmes

Well, the Eyewhites and EyeBalls are two different materials; one should be white and one black. As you can see from this render, it does work.

Come to think of it, the eyes do appear to be black before rendering, but look fine after.

arg. so I need to ignore what I see until post render. :) Ok, I can play this game as long as I know the rules. :)

eyeprob2.jpg Jeff this is what I was talking about. I know that things don't look as they should in the rooms. But using the Camera icon preview should let you see without a full render. But this is a rendering. I may just may not have a button selected or I maybe have too many buttons selected. I.E. It took me forever to realize that you HAVE to have the "light through transparency button" checked in the rendering palette to make the trans to show up. They just should have a Poser import plug-in ;-) James PS I'm on a MAC latest version.

Hmm..I've never seen that dark area on the whites of the eye before. One thing I do to make things look better is to turn off shadows in the render properties. It doesn't really remove shadowing, but it does make things render nicer. -JH.
