Sounds great! A new trend for the next 2,500 years :) Maybe closer than you think Vespyr!......(now for some shameless self promotion)..... Visit the link above and see for yourself.....cats at war with one another in the forests of Sherwood!! My cat Leo plays Friar Tuck :) Sets done in Vue and cats done on paste-up :) No mice.Attached Link: http://www.philc.net/
Sandoppe, Your cats are clever, but if 3-dimensional could better fit into the scenes. You might want to check out PhilC's site: http://www.philc.net/ The opening page shows his newest cat-human figure; with medieval clothing exact fit ought not to be as critical. Also look at catalog, page 1, his Elizabethan CD. The heads are designed to be replaceable. The costumes are a couple hundred years later, but can be adapted, especially the peasants. His Romantix sets aren't as true to a particular period, but have the right hats, boots, etc.. His work is top quality... I've purchased fairly steadily over the last 2 years, and it just gets better. CarollyCarolly: I checked out Philc's site and while I am not a "furry" in the true sense of that word, I do appreciate his work :) CLAW is a club for cats who live with people who treat their cats like a member of the family :) The CLAW theatre produces annual plays in which the actors are all CLAW members. The CLAW theatre does not want to use cats that look like humans in its productions. The costumes created for the plays are designed for a cat body and not intended to simulate the human body....more of a caricature/cartoon approach in the style of early Disney. One of the things I love about the House Mouse is that he retains his "mouseness", while taking on a personality....he can be costumed and adapted to different situations.
You are right that there are some scenes where a 3 dimensional character would work best. Since it is difficult to get images of real cats doing "action poses" and looking away from the camera, I had hoped to use the Poser cat and facial mapping to give a bit more reality to those scenes requiring action. Apparently the facial mapping only works with a select number of P5 characters, so that may not work. Once I get Poser, I will just have to experiment and see what can be done. Capsces has a set of "cat0-9 lives" morphs that might help me get different fur styles and actions for the Poser Cat. If all else fails, I can go this route and add the real cat heads on post along with the costumes.
