Subject: Pose Library Size Limit ??

noggin ( ) posted Wed, 11 December 2002 at 11:31 AM · edited Thu, 26 December 2024 at 6:29 AM

Does anyone know if there is an internal limit set within Poser (4.03) for the number of sections (or memory usage) in the Pose library. I've started to notice that when i try to access the library pose files lower down my list (which is pretty enormous!) that my selection is rejected and I flip back to my default displayed section. Prior to reorganising all my MAT file directories I wondered whether anyone else had had similar experiences, and whether they found an alternative solution!

poser 4 can take a total of 250 entries in each folder, I hate to sound like an advert but PBooost is the easy way to organise your folders.

ps you can really put as many items in the folders as you like but Poser will only see the first 250.

Thanks c1rcle ! :-) You know I'm a bit tempted_ if thats my problem.. off to count my folders! I'm currently running Pro Pak (don't know why I said 4.03) and P5_ haven't really gone across to P5 properly yet_ just pointed it at my old P4 runtime_ so had thought to start rebuilding it all in P5_ but its a lot of work. Does Pbooost work ok with ProPack? (and I don't mind the advert at all!)

version 1.3 works best with Poser4.03 & propack, version 1.4 just round the corner is going to support Poser5 properly including the compressed files :) it's going to have a thumbnail viewer built in for version 1.4 too.

Sounds great_ upgrade arrangements if I purchase 1.3?

c1rcle ( ) posted Wed, 11 December 2002 at 1:16 PM

that's the best bit about it, once you buy it all upgrades are free :) version 1.4 is being tested as we type, did I mention you can use it to make mat pose files too? as if you need any more ;)

The program is definately worth it. It's only $20 and it works wonders!.

It's really hard to find bad things to say about PBooost. Download the test from his site to make sure it'll work properly on your system & grab a copy of CorrectReference while you're there. It's best to use CR before you install PBooost but prepare for a good hour or 2 while it works through your library folders. You'll notice an increase in speed with poser cause it doesn't have to hunt down the textures it can go straight to them.

ah I've just seen CorrectReference was being hosted by Ron Knights, his site disappeared when Penguinisto had his server taken away. You should be able to find it at the netherworks.

Just started to play with Pbooost_ wow_ what a find! I had seen it mentioned but never appreciated what it did ( it seems to work a bit like like the Bryce5 ability to change librairies on the fly) I'm going to have to think carefully about how to arrange all my 'banks'_ any advice anyone? Thanks c1rcle and everyone else.

:-( Well, i tried the Test! And it doesn't work with my system... (Win2k Pro). Those Darn Mat Files! I think i should consider buying another copy of Poser for Anik(Sister), Cause, i noticed that 3/4 of that stuff is hers anyway! LOL Well, back to work. Marco

Hello! I'm here!! Hey, c1rcle, thanks for the fielding. OpticalSingenoid (great name!)... ... the tester is primarily for an earlier version of PBooost. If you are using an NTFS drive, correcting the texture references with CR will keep PBooost working for you. See ya! H:)

Hello Hogwarden (ha I thought c1rcle was another handle!!) Great utility btw_ I'm slowly getting myself sorted and my libraries more manageable.

c1rcle ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 6:52 AM

sorry noggin :) I just got a little overexcited cause I think Howard's programs are great ;)

noggin ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 4:32 PM

No sorries neccessary!! I'm very grateful for the tip!

OpticalSingenoid ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 7:10 PM

HogWarden, No! I'm using Fat32 Partitions on all 4 Drives! Maybe, it has to do with my Raid system??? Anyway, i might buy it for Anik... We'll see if i have any money left after Xmas... LOL Well, the origin of our Nick is from my distant Teenage past... Some of it from D&D, some from Sci-fi Book... Anyhow, even though i haven't tried your cool Utility, from what i hear, it seems good! Ciaos! Marco

i found it wouldn't change my banks on the fly until i went to properties and unlocked them all ( i am on a network too with my libraries stored on another computer) When i moved my stuff to different drives they all locked into the read only mode. When i unlocked them ( using properties) it worked fine. On ntfs not fat32 here.
