Today I took this picture of an insect. Is it a hoverfly, is it a bee.. I don't know yet..Maybe someone knows what this is.. Enmos maybe ? And Enmos (Jeroen)probably did !! He cannot identify the insect 100% sure, but he now thinks of Erastalis pertinax which is a hoverfly. Thanks for all your comments so far and for your efforts to identify the insect. Canon EOS 350D

Wow great capture Oskar !! Marvelous job here, excellent detail and dof !! :o) Its a hoverfly alright, seems to be the same one as in your pic "Taking off" :o) It is of the 'Eristalis' genus, which are called Droneflies. There are some very similar droneflies that are difficult to tell apart, but i am tempted to say that this is 'Eristalis tenax' though :o)

Yes it a Hover but need to see the top to be sure it is what Jeroen says as these have a V mark on the back. Super shot!
