Description

This little guy has been a source of aggrevation for me for quite sometime. Although quite common here in the islands, trying to get a shot of this nervous little bird in decent light has been such a daunting task. Being such a small bird it is quite hard trying to get a shot him in a tree as they love to hide in the shadows. Caught this guy briefly, 2 shots before he was gone, this the best of 2. Scientific name: Zosterope japonicus japonicus Family: Zosteropidae Order: Formes Class: Aves PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Japanese White-eyes, or Mejiros, are relatively small songbirds, they range between 4 to 4.5 inches. White-eyes have a slightly curved black bill extending from their yellow forehead. The name White-eye was given because of the silky white rings around the eyes. This distinctive feature is not always present in juveniles. The colors of the White-eye

Great info on this little bird! I also like your capture of the foliage. We had one of these bushes in our yard in LA when I was growing up, and we called it a "bottle brush" :)
