Description

Oil on canvas using palette knives. I wanted to do a painting that conveyed an ambience rather than a form, and was struck by the thought that the almost terrifying, physical forces that formed the earth are so feared by people, witness earthquakes, volcanoes, etc., that we can quite miss the beauty of it. It struck me that the whole extraordinary formation of the Earth must have been like some great symphony of many parts and movements, and so 'Earthsong' was born. It's the third of a series, and intends to wake emotions rather than the mind.

The movement and song of creation is very much felt and heard. Having experienced earthquakes, I have to say that they stir more than fear. They also stir a sense of excitement at the power of nature. They can also humble mankind into seeing their place within the scheme of nature. As a color freak, I really love your colors. This is a wonderful traditional artwork. Excellent!
