Description

"Jin! What's wrong? You haven't been yourself lately!" The boy winced as the little orange twins swam 'round. "Quit yer naggin', ye little sea urchins! Yer makin' me head hurt with all that chatterin'. Canna fellow spend some time by himself without stirrin' up the whole ocean?" "No you can't!" came the reply. The little maids were persistent. "You've been ignoring us lately. Have we made you mad?" The boy relented and gave in to their charms. "Sorry 'bout that, me dears. I'm not mad. Just been thinkin' about someone, that's all." "Ooooh!" Two pairs of eyes twinkled. "Who is it?" "Eh...just a girl I pulled out of the sea the other day. Poor little thing, she was so unhappy. Wasn't right to let her do herself in, you know." Surprise chased the twinkle from the twins' eyes. "Jin!" gasped one. "You mean it was a HUMAN girl?" "You know we're not supposed to go anywhere near humans," the other chimed in. "Queen Maven says they're dangerous." He rolled his eyes in reply. "Aye, I know very well what Queen Maven has ta say, but I donnae care. I couldn't let her die." A frown settled back onto his normally cheerful countenance. "I have ta say, I'm worried about her. I hope she's okay." "Human problems don't concern us. And besides..." One of the little maids swam closer, looking very serious. "You don't know what she might do. Why she might try and catch you and eat you!" "How horrible!" said her sister. "You promise us you'll stay away from that dangerous human!" "Dangerous?" Jin chuckled. "Nay, she's not dangerous. I think she's just someone who wants ta be understood and accepted for who she is.
