Description

It was a gorgeous evening yesterday; so after work, I got outta my dress and into my shorts, grabbed the camera and I was GONE! It was a wonderful couple of hours, taking pictures of various things; my dream was to get some shots of the Loons that seem to come on this side of the lake early evening ... and lo 'n behold ... there they were. They saw me up on the bank clickin' like mad -- they were probably wondering what the heck that broad up there was clickin' about. lol They slowly made their way along the shoreline; as I followed them a good mile or more. I don't know if this is the best one I got; but I like it. Any suggestions on how to improve this would be more than welcome. I have a hard time with shooting dark things -- like the loons face; to me it doesn't look as sharp as I'd like... but then the more I look at any picture, the more I see things I don't like. lol Anyway, have a great day .. OMG, it's Friday already!! Yippee! Take care, enjoy, and thanks so much for stopping by. Hugs to all :) Shari

Oh wow...I'm so jealous! A LOON in your gallery. COOL & amazing since it is hard to capture such a nice shot like this! The only thing I can say is maybe next time, (and I bet you WILL have a next time!) open up a stop or two and see what you think about exposure. It might be worth it to sacrifice the blue of the lake for the detail of the bird's feathers. Just lovely work, Shari! :0)

Quite wonderful composition and I love the colour of the water! Have always wondered about this lovely birds name. Seems somehow ill-fitting for such a marvelous creature - more fitting for someone like me :-) Well done indeed!

Shari, this is a great shot. Getting details in low light is hard to do. I'm still an amateur when it comes to apeture and shutter settings, but there lies the key. Experiment with those and and you'll come up with some really great stuff(accidently sometimes). Do loons speak quackenese?
