**This was written a long long long time ago... back in my angst filled teenage years. Just thought I'd clarify for those who know me and watch my writing**
Cautious Warning
I must explain
The state I'm in
But I don't know
Where to begin
He crossed his heart
I hoped to die
Cause I found out
It was a lie
I made a vow
On that day
I wouldnt love
Again that way
But now I'm scared
I'm so confused
I don't want you
To feel used
All I know
Is that last night
When you pulled me close
And held me tight
Those feelings that
I kept at bay
Have come back
To haunt today
I won't love
Love's pain can't taunt
All that heart ache
I don't want
Physical need
Is all I'll give
Cause if I love
My heart can't live
What I can give
Is what you get
If that's enough
Then we were meant

I love this piece! I understand what you mean about things written long ago. Most times we write from the heart at the moment we're at. Later, things change; but the feeling's still in the writing. Great work!
