Description

The Goldfinch is widespread in Europe but still relatively unknown. I think the reason for that is the way they live. Always hiding for people.. To bad, as their colours are fantastic and they easily can compeat with their nephews in the tropics. What you see here is a juvenile goldfinch, most likely a female. The female bird is not as bright coloured as the male, but it is still a beautiful one. America has it's own Goldfinch, but it does not look the same at all.

This is a totally fantastic capture, and not only does the little bird look really shy, but you have also captured a wonderful display of the disintegrating thistle-head - fantastic textures! The only thing I would have done different is to blank out the object on the top left to make the perfect picture. Wonderful shot!
