Description

Just a photo of a cemetary? Not really. This is a Photo taken at the Riverview Cemetary in Parkersburg, WV. My son took the photo. As you can see it is a statue headstone with the name Jackson on it. It is a man kneeling with his arms on the stone and head down, you can tell that from the small insert in the lower left corner. Nothing really spectacular about it although its very old and unusual by todays standards. What is unusual however is.. This is the headstone for the Jackson family plot and I mean THE jackson family plot, no not Michael... Andrew Jacksons family. This stone in this cemetary is said to get up and walk around. Yes thats correct it is said the statue in this photo has gotten up and walked around haunting the cemetary. Now personally... I don't believe it. But my son says he does. He has been researching haunted sites in our local area and this cemetary is supposed to be one of the most haunted. It sits behind a church on top of a hill overlooking the Ohio River. Almost directly between two hospitals, and the now torn down DeSales Acedamy which also was said to be a haunted site, a school run by the catholic church near the hospital. I guess this is a brief history, but I found the stones in this cemetary to be of interest, not for the haunting but for the fact they are very very old and very unusual. Enjoy! Hugs...

That is fascinating. I love to visit old cemetaries, for the intrinsic beauty of the carved headpieces, for the history of the place, you get a sense of how old a place truely is... and for the peace that they offer and look into... So much can be read into a person by the headstone left behind. Beautiful shot, perfect lighting.. :)

I think that there is too much in the world that we still don't understand to scoff that something I'm not sure of. A girl recently asked me at work.... "Do you believe in ghosts?" I asked her, "Do you belive in angels?" If so, what is the real difference? ~hugs~
