Description

Thanks so much to everyone for your comments and helpful suggestions on my last post "First Attempt Child Portrait"! *hugs* This one was taken with my digital camera (Kodak DX4530) instead of my 35mm one, so I was able to capture a much sharper image. I did a lot of postwork on this one in Photoshop..not on the baby, but on the background, because she was sitting in a chair with a floral pattern that I didn't like. So I paintbrushed the background out to all black, selected it, selected my colors, and rendered clouds for the background instead. Also, I set the entire image to grayscale, then duotone (with black for ink 1 and a light peachy color for ink 2) to get the coloring effect. I really like this pose as well; it's one of my favorite because she was being a little drama queen. LOL Enjoy!

Just adorable! You did awsome on the postworked background! My only thing with it is it's a bit dark for my taste. It's such a happy photo, it seems it should be a little brighter. But, it is still an excellent capture of little cutie! :)

I would agree with Damia that this image could be a bit brighter. Let the little one shine like her eyes and smile do! But this is a GREAT picture overall and your postwork is excellent. I don't think I'd have realized it wasn't a "portrait" background if you hadn't mentioned it! The best postwork improves an image without drawing attention to itself!

Great idea guys! When you've been at Photoshop for about 8 hours straight your eyes start to give out I guess, lol, but it was to dark, so I lightened and reposted it.

Kristi, good capture. I hope not to spoil the comments and appreciation, but i believe when one is capturing the child and their expressions, make sure the background becomes a part of them. Try not to doctor them, am sure if there was a sofa/carpet at the background things would have been much bettter. Its just a passing thought lady. And keep up the good work.
