Description

Went back to Wayne's Drive-in tonight after work. Arrived about 7:15. The place was crowded then but the photos I took still didn't capture the neon well enough. So I waited until after I finished an incredibly good bacon-double cheeseburger and onion rings before taking some more shots. Meanwhile, I had fun talking to my carhop, who, as you can see, really is on skates! She's worked there 5 years and filled me in on some of the history. Wayne's Drive-in is actually only 7 years old. Prior to that it had a variety of businesses in it or was just being used for storage. Fortunately Wayne recognized it for what it was and renovated it back to its current retro glory. The support building in the rear is actually only three years old. Fooled me! The gal in the middle is one of the inside waitress (no skates) and had just come out to shake the rug when she saw me saying goodbye to my carhop. I yelled to her "Tomorrow guys in France will be looking at your picture!" and clicked the shutter as she dropped the matte and laughed..... My carhop also told me Thursday nights were when the antique and classic car buffs came. Looks like I'm heading back there tomorrow! PS-- they have a website-- http://www.waynesdrive-in.com/

I remember neon lights from the 60's, and I still them. This is even better than the daytime pic. Thanks for capturing this for the rest of us to see.
