Description

Ultrafractal 3.02 Seems like 4ever that I've admired the colors and shapes in the art of one of the "Grand Dames" of fractal art, Linda Allison - "Gumbycat" as she's been known ever since I marvelled at the Fractint gradient maps she made back in the days of AOL and Compuserve. She was the "Queen of Colors" in my eyes back then and still amazes with the shades and composition of her fractals. So, I've searched high and low, Julia and Mandelrot for a LONG time trying to figure out just how she got those VERY cool forms in her work. One day a few months ago, I hit on something while messing with UF on my lunch break that just jumped out and bit me like a Florida gator. I'd found something, finally, that at least was close to a "gumby-fractal". Woohoo!! So I played some and then didn't look at my work "shuttle-pars" again until day b4 yesterday. So, I worked some more - almost Sine-mod'ed it into oblivion, recovered, then got all hung up trying to make an XD looking grid background, recovered again, started feeling like it was actually gettin' "kinda gumby" and I think I've finally made something that emulates, somewhat, the awesome vibe of her work. Made sure to use lots of Florida oranges in the coloring, too! So, this one is hopefully suitably "gumbyfied" and dedicated to Linda A - one of the giants of fractal art and one of the friendliest people I've had the pleasure to meet. Thanks for stopping by! Rick :-?)

Again, I'm getting here a wee bit late (lol!), as I just now found this, but you did Linda proud! It really does remind me of some of her work, and I like it a great deal! Isn't she the sweetest, though? We send e-mail back and forth, and she's always so wonderful to talk to. Bravo on your tribute to her!

My God! I do not think I have seen fractal quite like this. I do not use this type of program but I have seen lot's of work using it. You seem to have taken it to a whole new level. I'm liking your technique very much. KP
