Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

very nice composition of life.

Sorry for those bad news... This shot and its symbolism are both excellent, bravo! Strange, I was driving this morning, near Geneva airport and had my attention caught by exactly the same car (but with a more "normal" color). A Morris, isn't it?

So sorry to hear about the floods and damage it caused. I'm glad your friends got out safely. As for that parked car, not sure what kind or type of car it is? Very interesting. The total picture is very beautiful. Looking forward for your post again. Aloha

Yes, this flood really hit us hard. Many parts of my country are heavily damaged, many people lost their homes and some even their lifes. It will get better soon, we all hope. Thank you for your images from Switzerland, it's always nice them. :)

Very funny contrast between this wonderful car and the phone ! But both with the same colors ;-)))) Sorry to read the story of your friends ins Switzeland. Of course it's terrible everywhere all these floods in the world, and when one sees these images to the TV that made cold in the back !!! But let us be honest... 99% of the people think that that arrive only tothe others ! And as long as you didn't live this kind of thing, or that that touches people whom you love, you don't realize really. But it should well be realized that we all responsible of the climatic changes, and that if the floods, the fires, the earthquakes, is increasingly frequent, it's because our pretty planet sends signals to us. We must interpret them, and do something to save the Nature. We belong to Nature, Nature doesn't belong to us. And instead of crying over our sad fate, we would make better react, but do it quickly, before it's not too late....

We've seen the scenes of flooding on the news - it looks devastating! Too bad your friends' basement was a casualty, but glad to hear they're safe. Your image here is very colorful - the beauty of tradition with the standard Swiss cleanliness and efficiency :)

they showed on the news here the flooding in Europe. Where my departed mother lived we was always dealing with a flooded yard. luckily the house was on a slighly raised section of the yard and it never got to it. but a block away it was 10' deep. we always ended up with water moscassin snakes. alot od constrast in your capture. is that a phone booth or a computer terminal?

i'm so sorry about your friends, Jan-Carel. :( hard times indeed. i'm glad at least they're safe, but it's hard when your house is ruined and you lose so much. Will their homeowners insurance cover the damage? Is the red house the one they live in? or is this where you were shopping. sorry i'm confused. ;( i LOVE that old car, and it is a nice contrast...old and new! is that a phone booth? sure looks like a big one! Fantastic capture, Jan-Carel!
