Well said. No one should be treated inhumane and that goes for the world around. Aloha

been looking at this a long time...and all the layers you used. i really like it a lot. i wish i had something really profound to say but i don't. it's just so different and unusual which is one reason i really enjoy this! funny, looking at this i also see a Mexican girl & boy in the image. (bottom left quadrant). the girl is facing away from you. the boy has his back to her. they are head-to-head, and he is facing you. Top center, the texture feel Aztec. i can't explain it. i see masks. the straight lines remind me of a fence...perhaps the imaginary fence along the U.S.-Mexico border. Anyway, this is an image you have to spend a long time lookin' at...gotta really look. I'm sad for anyone who lives in conditions that are so bad they must risk death to leave their country. yes, they do contribute and have a role in our country but our government doesn't acknowledge that. I'm not sure what kind of inhumane treatment is happening. i don't keep up on the news. i have known several people from Mexico who were here in the U.S. illegally, and they were good people. I hope they were not treated inhumanely. Anyway, sorry i am not up on what's happening. i just wish the world was not so concerned with boundaries. I mean really...when you think about it, what's the point? we're all human beings. can't we all just live together in peace without silly borders???? well, that's how i feel. sorry for writing a novel. Incredible artwort, Egmont! :)

Well Egmont this is a real cracker, just as a standalone image I find it very attractive but when you explain the social message it becomes something altogether more important. very well done!!!

HAo, Eg!--I see here that your eyes expression is like the 'nuclear' of the picture, given the influence to all the environment. Congrats!

You hit on several good points Sheila. I really enjoy reading how this image impacts your thoughts and that of anyone else. It should be pointed out, that this photographic montage was started as an experimental art project. Only after its completion and searching for a title did I begin to express any political and social views. Though I wanted to write more, I also wanted the artwork to stand on its own and generate views not influenced by text, as we clearly see in Ians remarks. It will be interesting to see where it all goes.

Wonderful collage of layers. Just as the topic it portrays has muliple layers for consideration. There is no easy solution, and I fear no guts to work through the layers of changes that would have to take place. Thus the abuse that has been continues, and I suspect will increase as more and more citizens find themselves in competition for jobs. There are no real winners when it comes to illegal entry into any foreign country. Money is still the root of all evil, and unfortunately money is very much at the root of the injustice on all sides. One of the problems with fitting an image with a title is that we can't always reach the depth of meaning we want to convey with the image alone. The explanation is essential in this image to make the statement. Your image and explanation complete the package and can inspire the viewer to analyze the subject. But it takes some effort on the part of viewers unfamiliar with the issue. I hope you inspire many with your image Egmont. It is important that images & explanations of this social justice issue be presented in a medium that reaches out beyond California, where it is an obsession. It is my hope that cooler heads may offer some hope for the future regarding illegal status issues. Sorry to be so long in this comment. That's what social justice issues do to me. ;)

I looked at this image last night, and I got an IM from you this morning! Coincidence? I dug this image back up and studied it some more. I left it without comment last night because the topic made me uncomfortable, I try not to get involved too much in politics, but for some reason I always wind up involved. sigh I agree the with you on the topic of abuse, but have my own views on immigration living here in Florida. You have gone to great lengths to produce this image, with multiple layers, the texture is very Stucco/Aztec, not sure what I think about the line art though, I see other things in here possibly images? maybe figments of my imagination? I personally might have applied the textured images to a solid white background and layered it over the original portrait. But that is me, my statement would not have been political either, but that is the difference between us, not a bad thing at all, it (difference) is what makes the world go round. This image stands very well on it's own and the presentation is excellent! I keep looking at this image, it is mesmerizing and the more I look at that line art that you applied, the more it is growing on me. OK I will leave now, before I change my mind and have to change the whole danged comment! LOL! Have a great weekend! :)

I think what claridad said hits the nail: money is very much at the root of the injustice on all sides. Unfortunately! Fantastic Collage, excellent work!

Your excellent pic has touched upon a thought provoking subject. Until Americans are willing to pay more for their vegetables, clean their own homes, maintain their own yards, and elevate the wages of "menial" jobs, there will always be a ready market for illegal labor. Illegal employers benefit the most from the current arrangement, and the law really only provides a slap on the wrist to these employers. Punish the hell out of illegal employers and the problems goes away. Continuing to tolerate a strata of second-class citizens trapped by their illegal status is an outrage in a country that supposedly elevates freedom above all else.

I haven't comment this photograph immediately Egmont, because I wanted to have time to observe it well, and to think of it. The work of composition that you made, with the use of your various layers is really splendid ! And it is true that one has the impression in the clear zones, of a very different relief of style (Aztec or other I do not know) but that gives the idea of another dimension. A superb work of Art ! As regards the opinion that you emitted, I can only agree with you once more. We live in a world which really became inhuman. But how much million people in the world live like gosts ? nobody sees them, or seldom, they have incredible lives, for some near to slavery, they die without nobody realizing there or does not know it... But at the end, at which that really imports ? It's a question which I often make to myself... As long as we will live in a world or only the God "dollars" draws the strings, I don't see how the things will change. I am not very optimistic about the future of the man and with his capacity of reason ! And I think especially that there are far too many people who live on our planet, and which that also created of serious problems everywhere. I don't know what it would be necessary to do, but in any event it well will be necessary that one quickly finds solutions as well political as human. The world cannot continue to turn like that eternally... I hope for a better world, but I don't believe in it really, not with a "dominant" species like the man, with all his aggressiveness, his greed, his thirst for being able and money. I remain convinced that today, the only people who live still well, are far from numerous. And that it's in any event of the ethnos groups which do not have our is saying level of development, and which knew to preserve their identity, and to continue to live in perfect harmony with Nature and the environment. In any case you were right to make this composition, and to transmit this message. It's necessary that one can also speak about all that, and not that of photography on Renderosity. Thank you Egmont for all that. Have a nice sunday my friend. Hugs

Wow, you got some pretty extensive comments! Slavery abolished? Mankind will always try to let people to things they do not want to do themselves. I am afraid it's in the nature of human mankind but I keep hoping for a better world! Impressive work, Egmont!

Like they say ... 'catch you later!' ... These Mexicans do a lot in the domestic labour sector don't they... some rewards... We call New South Welshmen 'Mexicans' here in Queensland Australia because they cross the stateline so often as well. Cheers. A fine image.

A lot to take in here Egmont. Your use of layers is exquisite and very subtle. I agree that the flood of illegals coming into our country and their subsequent exploitation is something that should not be. Even here in ritzy Boca Raton, there are migrants and illegals living in shacks and mobile homes; near the fields they work for long hours and little pay. They stuff them in like sardines and probably charge them an outrageous rent which more than likey comes out of their paychecks before they even see them. As bad as that is, imagine what conditions must be like back home that would drive them to try for an uncertain future in the USA.

artistic presented portrait! there is a person and there is not! great interpretation of your statement! ;o)

I'm not the best person to tell smth about this subject since I do not live there, but I can bet anytime my money that modern slavery exists in many so-called democratic countries! so, I'd better shut up now.
