Description

This image actually dates back to 29th January 2002, and at 2992 x 4362 pixels was one of the largest pieces I'd done at that time. For this repost (shown a bit larger than before) I gave it some additional colour tinting and applied Gaussian Blur to sections. The original post can be seen here if you like. Thank you as always for taking a look and your feedback is always appreciated :-)

Great to see your style applied to non-human forms, it has the feel of Russia and the Zar and all the elegance, then I guess we are all supposed to see different things in these.

This is so beautiful Jim, the colours & tones are spot on & the detail looks amazing I can only begin to imagine what an impression it must make full size.... drools! ; ) I could lose myself for a long time in this shimmering, reflective illusory space!

OH-MY-GOD! This is so gorgeous, how in the world did you make this?? It has such a clean strong feeling on the eyes, it's fun to look at- and there are such beautiful details. This is perfection right here! Heather

I totally love the top part of the image but, to me, the bottom one doesn't fit with the top one! I think the first one should be an image on its own! But that's just MHO of course!! Very classy piece of work anyhow!

you've definately evolved in your style... i liked the blue but i'm partial to it... i see 2 figures on either side looking up at the top of this refractive & smokin pyramid overlooking the lake of shimmering glass ;]

I prefer the smaller image: color, and detail are better. This has too much smudginess from the compression and the noodling cloudiness is lost. Still beautiful, but I have to close my eyes against the artifacting. The cooler coloration also helped it appear remote and ephemeral and shimmery.

I suspect the "smudginess" was deliberate - I don't think it's anything to do with compression, it's actually a subtle technique I've used a lot recently whereby I offset the colour channels by one pixel to try and achieve an optical holographic effect :-)

Sometimes the reflection reveals the true nature of things. Wonderful world to sink in; like a temple of the soul. :-)

I like the postwork you gave to it.. yes..the color tunes are closer to my favorites, but also it gives more volume to the image. Utopia for my taste =)
